2005-09-09 : create a new c++ project with kdevelop

Configuration:
KDE 3.4.90  (alpha1, >=20050806)
kdevelop 3.2.2
From: Fedora KDE/redhat RPM Package for FC4 (everything is up-to-date from yum)
Screen Resolution: 800x600
Desktop environment: gnome (window manager = metacity)

Task: create a new project (c++/hello world) in kdevelop.
Problem: the dialog is too big for the screen
Screenshot: new_project_nobutton.png
First idea: ask help on #kde or #kdevelop (irc) from annma
What I was asked to do: maximize the window
Problem: there is no maximize window option (it's disable)
What I was asked to do: move the window to the top with ALT+click,
 you can't with gnome/metacity, it block you to do it.
What I was asked to do: resize the window with the bottom border, there is no one accessible or visible
 if you look the screenshot.
What I try: reduce the window dialog height with the top border, then, move the dialog to the top
 It work.
What they said to me: hum, seems like a bug, what happens if you reopen the dialog
 - it the same size
What if you open kdevelop in english
 - first time it crash
 - on second try, it open the dialog with the same size as in french
What they asked me: try with a new user and report it if it's the same size/behaviour
 - I open a console window, su (root), /usr/sbin/adduser test, su test, passwd, ...
 - kdevelop
   didn't work, unable to connect to X :0:0
I ask what to do:
 - export DISPLAY=:0
 - I retry to launch kdevelop
   didn't work, same error
What they said to me:
 - do xhost +LOCAL: in my default user (first one)
 - su test
 - kdevelop (connect to X, more debugging statement, unless it's crash with this:

Conclusion: since I can't reproduce the first bug with a new user,
I can't report the second crash because I have a mixed kdebase 3.4 with
kdelibs 3.5, everything was for nothing, unless my bad mood...
And the proof that linux desktop is not user-friendly
